EXTENSION COUNCIL SELECTS DIRECTORSThe Johnson County K-State Research and Extension Council recently elected nine members to its board of directors.They are Michele Janson, chairwoman; Larry Dolci, vice chairman; Jessica Welch, secretary; Michael Kenny, treasurer; and at-large members Tim Schaid, Barry Zimmerman, Fred Overton, Earl Allen Jr. and Denise King.The council also elected 12 people to positions on the 24-member council.

The board of directors is making plans to fill the Charleston Carnegie Public Library's vacant executive director position by the spring.
In the meantime, the library staff has taken on some of the executive director's responsibilities and the retired director, Sheryl Snyder, has been helping part time as a consultant.
Mary Droste, vice president of the board of directors, said the board is compiling a list of the qualifications they are looking for in an executive director.

The Port Klang Authority (PKA) will implement a whistle-blower policy and strengthen its internal auditing.
It is following recommendations by the Corporate Governance Ad Hoc Committee on the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project and the Special Task Force on the PKFZ.
PKA chairman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng said the recommendations would be implemented with the help of ad hoc committee president Datuk Paul Low, who is also the president of Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M).

Cossette Inc. reaffirmed today its support for the privatization transaction (the "Mill Road Transaction") with Mill Road Capital, L.P. ("Mill Road") and its recommendation that shareholders vote in favour thereof.

Fertiliser group CF Industries scored a hit on Friday in its campaign for smaller rival Terra Industries, after all three of the board nominees put forward by CF ahead of Terra's shareholder meeting were elected.

Vader City Hall was closed early Thursday as city officials and volunteers tried to get a grip on the city's budget crisis.
